Today, on the Concrete Day, the winners of the "Concrete Building of the Year 2021" competition were announced, and E-Betoonelement received a special prize for the concrete elements of the Mary Kay Music Studio.

The Mary Kay Music Studio project was completed in cooperation between three Consolis sister companies, with E-Betoonelement, CES and Strängbetong contribution to the success of the project. The architectural solution of the building was created by Krook & Tjäder. The music studio in Sweden owes its beautiful and unique look to the automated concrete element finishing line used in the E-Betoonelement Harku factory. The production line that uses cutting-edge technology allowed us to produce polished and sleek wall elements for the building, as well as various structural surfaces.

Today is not like any other day at E-Betoonelement - it is a bit more special and festive. E-Betoonelement is celebrating its birthday today, and not just any birthday, but today, E-Betoonelement becomes 30 years old.

This is quite a long time with many interesting and memorable events and happenings.

During that time, many beautiful and durable concrete buildings have been built in Estonia, as well as in neighboring countries. Of course, we build with concrete. We choose concrete because its excellent properties enable to design buildings that will last for centuries, have high fire resistance and good sound attenuation. Concrete is also a very playful, aesthetic and multi-purpose material. E-Betoonelement has supplied precast concrete elements for the constuction of many schools, shops, residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.

As a 30-year-old company, we have launched and introduced many new solutions on the market, from 500 hollow panels to completely new all-included prefabricated building solutions. Now we are ready to build ever taller buildings - Järve Towers that reach almost 20 storeys, show our preparedness to take our element solutions to the sky.

Over the 30 years, the company has employed, and still employs, a large number of specialists in their specific field, thanks to whom the company has grown and become as successful as it is today. We value our employees very highly and want to provide them with the best environment for self-development, as well as a safe and secure workplace.

30 years of excellent customers and partners - because with them and only in cooperation with them we can produce wonderful results. Our customers and partners have given us a reason to always give our best, always experiment, create new and better solutions and keep striving, and their tough but honest feedback is what has always pushed us to do better.

30 years of joy - in addition to hard work and construction, there have been many jokes, fancy parties and great memories. Unforgettable Wool Moon jazz concerts in the factory have always offered captivating moments for us and for our invited guests. Memorable summer days with games and delicious dishes have brought children and families a lot of fun and a chance to enjoy activities together. Serious and important work also requires being able to relax and enjoy life.

It feels good and makes us proud to look back at the work we have done. And when driving around in Estonia, you find yourself realizing that your company has created these things, it will make you happy inside. When looking to the future, it is safe to think, considering our strong foundation, constant development and innovation that the future looks positive and all preconditions for continued success have been created.

Press release
04.01.2022
Estonian Concrete Association and Estonian Building Materials Manufacturers Association

16 buildings were submitted to the Concrete Building of the Year 2021 competition organized by the Estonian Concrete Association and the Estonian Building Materials Manufacturers Association.

"The wide geographical coverage of the concrete buildings competition is evidenced by the three largest cities in Estonia participating with new buildings and facilities, as well as the rural municipalities of Ida-Virumaa and Lääne-Virumaa and three rural municipalities in Harju County," said Imre Leetma, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Concrete Association. "The range of competition and concrete buildings is wide as shown by the types of buildings that participate: office buildings, nursing homes, schools, apartment buildings, a skate park, port terminals, bridges, healthcare facilities, tunnels," added Leetma.
According to Imre Leetma, one of the keywords of the competition is the bold use of concrete as an element of public urban space or urban design - starting from the cruise pier of Tallinn Port and the tunnels and overpass between Riia and Vaksali Streets in Tartu, finshing with the skate park at Tondiraba Park.

The aim of the competition is to find and highlight the buildings, whose appearance and effective and economical performance demonstrate the advantages and potential of concrete as a domestic construction material.

The winner will be announced on the Estonian Concrete Day in March 2022.

Two outstanding concrete high-rise buildings, one with 18 and the other with 19 stories, have been completed on Järve Street. These two buildings will not go unnoticed by anyone, because the towers rise to the sky and stand out by their white colour. But the towers could be even taller…

Project: Järve Towers

Address: Järve str 2, Tallinn
Customer: TTP AS
Architect: Martin Aunin
Element solution: design (in cooperation with the sister company CES) manufacturing, transport and installation
Product nomenclature: hollow core slabs, columns, beams, stairs, balconies, interior and exterior wall elements
Sales Engineer of E-Betoonelement: Neeme Kasela
Project Manager at E-Betoonelement: Toomas Böttcher

Toomas Böttcher, Project Manager at E-Betoonelement: “At E-Betoonelement, we are very proud of the completed Järve Towers project. Many thanks to all our partners - the customer TTP, the architect Martin Aunin, the designers at CES and, of course, our in-house colleagues. These two white towers were completed as a complete concrete element solution from design and production to installation. Almost 30 years of experience in prefabricated element construction have been beautifully applied in this project.”

Järve Towers

Martin Aunin, Architect: "This is one of the few areas in Tallinn where high-rise buildings are allowed. It complies with the thematic plan for the location of high-rise buildings. One of the crucial factors was also the flight corridor that passes over this area here. If you look closer you see that the buildings are of different height. One tower has 18 stories, and the other one 19 stories - so, one building is lower by one story. As planes are landing over this tower, the tower closer to the airport is a bit lower.
For sure, one of the key words here was concrete - more specifically, light-toned white concrete. The white colour accentuates airiness and lightness and definitely adds depth to the elements and architectural form. The facade is rather three-dimensional, the balconies that are twisting upwards in a helix-like form carry the fundamental idea of the tower. The towers themselves are square shaped in the ground plan, and the main volume is expressively vertical. The divisions between the windows are vertical and the parapet solution, as you can see here, further emphasizes the infinity of the divisions, as if they still strive upwards to the heights.
The way how E-Betoonelement finally designed, built and assembled it shows that the result is really good. It was the right choice. With this building we even might have shifted the understanding of element construction and its boundaries here in Estonia.”

Marko Haabjärv, Installation Manager at E-Betoonelement: “Our installation team has completed many concrete element solutions, for example, right now we are working on the last (the 10th) apartment building of Pöörise residential area The installation of elements from our own factory has gone really well thanks to good communication and cooperation, as the transfer of drawings and any issues that arise are resolved immediatley. Good planning also plays an important role and it is easy to organize thibgs within the company. We also pay special attention to safety, so that all safety rules are in place on the site and thus the safety of people ensured.
In cooperation with the designers, our sister company CES, we have been able to have a say in creating and using more convenient and efficient solutions for installation. More information related to the installation has been entered into the BIM model of the building, such as the installation dates of elements, the coverage areas of the two installation teams and the installation stages.”
