The surface of a horizontally cast element is smoothened with a steel float, as a result of which the surface of concrete becomes thick and smooth, and the quality of the surface is similar to that of a mould surface. Floating is usually used for finishing internal walls (as a base surface for the final finishing materials of internal walls, e.g., filler, paint, or wallpaper).
