In the collaboration between AS E-Betoonelement and the sister companies of the enterprise, CES AS and Swetrak AS, a new commercial building was built in 2019 at the address of Töökoja 3, Tallinn. The main contractor was Merko Ehitus Eesti AS.

Project: Töökoja 3 Commercial Building
Address: Töökoja 3, Tallinn
Customer: Merko Ehitus Eesti AS
Architect: Sirkel & Mall OÜ
Product nomenclature: hollow panels, joists, posts, SW-walls, partition walls and staircases, HTT panels
Sales Engineer: Martin-Sven Käärid
Project Manager: Toomas Böttcher

The commercial building in question is an excellent example of a successful collaboration between sister companies E-Betoonelement, CES, and Swetrak. Planning was the responsibility of CES, which also collaborates in the construction of the SG commercial building at Pärnu maantee in Tallinn. Setrak was responsible for the exterior walls, which have a TiO2 addition on the building, making the surfaces really gleaming when the sun shines.

The advantages of concrete elements with titanium oxide are their better resistance to weather conditions, the self-cleaning ability of the concrete surface, and its brighter and lighter look. Moreover, it has been shown that such a concrete surface fixes nitrogen compounds and thus cleans the environment. TiO2 itself is, as a fine powder, a bright white, persistent, and fixed substance, which is mainly used as a pigment in paints and paper.

2019. aasta sügisel valmib Tartu Ülikooli Delta keskus, mille kavandatavaks mahuks on ligi 18 000 ruutmeetrit pinda. AS E-Betoonelemendi, AS Ehitustrusti ja AS Rand&Tuulbergi koostöös valmib keskuse juurde kuuluv Ettevõtlusmaja, mille kogupinnaks on 4700 m².

Project: Entrepreneurship building of the Delta Centre of the University of Tartu
Address: Narva mnt 18/20, Tartu
Customer: Ehitusfirma Rand ja Tuulberg AS
Architect: Arhitekt11 OÜ arhitektid Illimar Truverk, Sander Aas, Sander Paljak, Kristjan Lind ja Joanna Kordemets
Product nomenclature: hollow panels, joists, posts, SW-walls, partition walls, and staircases

DELTA was chosen as the name of the building as the result of a competition. The author of the name is Erki Tamm, the chief specialist of the development service of the real state department of the University of Tartu, and the name refers to three-sided collaboration, i.e. information and communication technology, economy, and mathematics-statistics, or to a triad of science-economy-state.

The contract of E-Betoonelement is coming to an end, and the building will be opened this year.

Today, a cornerstone was set to the latest new development Toom-Kuninga 15 by the real estate company Metro Capital, which is based on the Estonian capital. It is being built in the neighbourhood of Uus Maailm next to the former children’s stadium. An integral residential complex consisting of four buildings will be completed in 2020.

As to the words of the CEO of Metro Capital, Ain Kivisaar, today’s real estate market is in good health, and apartments are actively bought both for homes and for the purpose of investment. “The interest of the people in new apartments in attractive areas is continuously steady, and the slower period of the beginning of the year is over. This is also indicated by the growing interest in the development of Toom-Kuninga 15, especially now when the façade rises quickly.”

Kivisaar explained that the project of Toom-Kuninga 15 has so far been built solely with the self-financing of the development company, which is exceptional in the construction of such a large apartment building. First residents can move in in the summer of next year, when the first of the four buildings of the new development will be completed.

Ain Kivisaar added that the area of Uus Maailm is quickly developing and vivacious, attracting the eyes of home-seekers. “A couple of years ago the super ministry was built, and the former children’s stadium is catching a new breath. We prefer our developments to harmonize with the surroundings, and the living environment would offer extra value to the new homeowners. We have started a collaboration with the city and will build a sports and leisure area with six beach volleyball grounds to the former area of the children’s stadium for the interim period of use.”

109 apartments with 1-4 rooms will be built in the apartment building of Toom-Kuninga 15. There are commercial spaces for cafes and shops on the first level of the building. There will be a spacious courtyard for the residents between the partitioned buildings, and a locked storage room for bicycles in every lobby.

The buildings are issued a class B energy label, and modern, eco-efficient, and energy sufficient solutions are preferred in the construction. The buildings will be finalized in 2020 in three stages—first, the black house, then the lower orange building sections, and thirdly the white house.

Ott Kadarik and Mihkel Tüür from the renowned architectural bureau Kadarik, Tüür. Arhitektid have created the architectural solution of the building. To ensure quality, the builder of the development is the main contractor of the construction, Kiikri Ehitus founded by Metro Capital in 2017, and owner supervision is exercised by the experienced owner supervision team of Telora OÜ. Temiir AS, E-Betoonelement AS, Merko Ehitus Eesti AS, etc. are involved as subcontractors.

It is now possible to watch the completion of the element towers with approximately 20 storeys in Järve Street for 24/7 in real time. Once more, the buildings to be completed the next year pose an excellent example of the long-term collaboration between E-Betoonelement and TTP. Previously, they have worked together on many projects, and one of the largest ongoing developments parallel to Järve Towers is the Pöörise residential area in Mustamäe with residential buildings of up to 12 and 14 storeys.

Two residential tower buildings, a business-office block, and an underground parking lot belong to the Järve residential building complex with business spaces. The ground part of the residential tower buildings consists of 19 and 18 storeys with 2 storeys of the business-office block. All in all, there will be 201 apartments and 3524 m² of business space in the towers.

The architect of the towers is Martin Aunin, whom E-Betoonelement has collaborated with previously as well. For instance, he was the co-architect of the residential apartment buildings at TARTU MNT 52D.

On Monday, the number 1131 was displayed on the electronic tableau at the gate of the Tamsalu factory of AS E-Betoonelement. Even the players of memory games could not guess the meaning of the figure increasing by one unit per every day.

See arv näitab, mitu päeva on möödunud viimasest tööõnnetusest. Tamsalu tehase juht Marek Prees selgitas, et tööõnnetuseks peetakse juhtumit, kus kannatanu on vähemalt ühe päeva haiguslehel.

The employees of the factory did not have to attend to their routine tasks on the same Monday. The day was meant for further education in the field of occupational safety knowledge and skills.

Eestis pole eriti palju ettevõtteid, kus pühendataks üks päev pelgalt tööohutusele. See ju maksab, ja mitte vähe. Tehas kuulub ülemaailmsesse kontserni Consolis Group, kus on 10 000 töötajat. Eestis on kontsernil lisaks Tamsalu tehasele Harku tehas. "Eesmärk on liikuda õnnetustevaba töökultuuri suunas,” sõnas Prees.

Four workshops were organized at the Tamsalu factory. Tips and tricks in connection with cranes were taught in the first one. Accidents having happened with a hoist and their main reasons were discussed in the second one. In the third workshop, however, the discussion revolved around haemorrhage, the necessity to stop it, and easier binding methods.

A quiz was basically conducted in the fourth workshop. Four groups with about twenty employees in each group had to answer 54 questions, which involved things learned already some time ago as well as new issues introduced on the same safety day. Answering all the questions correctly would have given the maximum score of 63 points. A group led by a planner, Herki Loide, was victorious with 58 points.

The scores are not so important after all. As to the words of Marek Prees, it is more important for people to gain new knowledge at the quiz.

Four groups addressed the issue of safety in the factory, but one was at the Tamsalu community centre acquiring skills and knowledge in connection with work involving an open flame. They received a document permitting them to work with an open flame, for instance.

A high level of work culture was evident at the factory in addition to contributing to the occupational safety. Accuracy—to be more precise. The end of the safety day was planned to be at 14 pm. Exactly at the said time, the head of the factory Marek Prees began his brief speech, thanking the participants and hoping that everyone gained new knowledge that day.

AS E-Betoonelement is a leading construction solutions provider in Estonia, where it has operated since 1992. The construction solutions of the company comprise complete solutions for the constructions of buildings and edifices from drafting the work project, designing production drawings, and manufacturing elements to transport and installation.
