Estonian Concrete Association and Estonian Building Materials Manufacturers Association<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16 buildings were submitted to the Concrete Building of the Year 2021 competition organized by the Estonian Concrete Association and the Estonian Building Materials Manufacturers Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The wide geographical coverage of the concrete buildings competition is evidenced by the three largest cities in Estonia participating with new buildings and facilities, as well as the rural municipalities of Ida-Virumaa and L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Virumaa and three rural municipalities in Harju County,\" said Imre Leetma, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Concrete Association. \"The range of competition and concrete buildings is wide as shown by the types of buildings that participate: office buildings, nursing homes, schools, apartment buildings, a skate park, port terminals, bridges, healthcare facilities, tunnels,\" added Leetma.
According to Imre Leetma, one of the keywords of the competition is the bold use of concrete as an element of public urban space or urban design - starting from the cruise pier of Tallinn Port and the tunnels and overpass between Riia and Vaksali Streets in Tartu, finshing with the skate park at Tondiraba Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board of the Estonian Concrete Association approved all 16 buildings submitted for the Concrete Building of the Year 2021 competition as nominees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following buildings compete for the title of Concrete Building of the Year 2021:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Aaspere multi-level crossing, Vanam\u00f5isa overpass and Sauste pedestrian tunnel, Tallinn-Narva highway, Haljala municipality, L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Virumaa<\/li>
  2. Ahtme Active Treatment and Health Center, Ilmajaama 14 and 12, Ahtme, Kohtla-J\u00e4rve, Ida-Virumaa<\/li>
  3. Ajamaja, Rotermanni 6, Tallinn<\/li>
  4. Home for people with special needs, Merimetsa tee 3, P\u00f5hja-Tallinn, Tallinn<\/li>
  5. Kadaka Metsapark<\/strong>apartment buildings at Ehitajate tee 91\/1 and 91\/2 and Kadaka tee 141 and 141a, Mustam\u00e4e, Tallinn<\/li>
  6. Kindluse School, Roheluse tee 4, J\u00e4rvek\u00fcla, Rae Municipality, Harju County<\/li>
  7. Lahekalda apartment buildings, Stage I, Paekalda 22, 24 and 24a, Lasnam\u00e4e, Tallinn<\/li>

  15. Cruise Terminal at the Port of Tallinn, Logi 4\/2, Tallinn<\/li>
  16. Skatepark at Tondiraba Park, Lasnam\u00e4e, Tallinn.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The aim of the competition is to find and highlight the buildings, whose appearance and effective and economical performance demonstrate the advantages and potential of concrete as a domestic construction material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
